SERGEANT MAJOR
1ST LAW ENFORCEMENT BATTALION

SgtMaj Cuthbertson was born May 31, 1978 in Barnwell, South Carolina and graduated high School in Williston, SC in 1996. In November of 1996, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended Basic Training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. In February of 1997 he graduated from recruit training as a Private First Class (PFC) and was assigned the military occupational specialty of Supply Administration Operations (MOS 3043). After graduating Supply Administration School, at Camp Johnson, he was assigned to 2nd Forces Service Support Group (2nd FSSG) BN Supply, Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Private First Class Cuthbertson served as the Due and Status File (DASF) NCOIC and Garrison Property NCOIC and accountable for over 20 Marines, where then promoted to Lance Corporal (LCPL) and took responsibilities within the Fiscal and (CMR) Consolidated Memorandum Receipt Sections. Later, he would receive orders instructing him to report to his next command aboard Camp Butler/Foster Okinawa Japan but not before being promoted to the rank of Corporal. In 1999, Cpl Cuthbertson was assigned to the Electronics Maintenance Branch (EMB) Supply section. Over the course of his tour at Camp Butler/Foster, Cpl Cuthbertson would be assigned as NCOIC of his section and also be augmented to Security React Team (SRT) to provide security for the 1999 G8 Summit in Okinawa Japan.

In March of 2001 Cpl Cuthbertson would received orders to report to Quantico Virginia, and then assigned to Service Company H&S BN Material Readiness Branch. There he would be assigned as the NCOIC of the Property Control Office.

In April of 2001, Cpl Cuthbertson was promoted to the rank of Sergeant (Sgt) and be transferred to work as the Assistant Terminal Area Security Officer (TASO) within the Information Security Management Office (ISMO) of Material Readiness Branch, in leiu of G-6 for the logistics division and MCLB Albany. In addition would also serve as the Facilities maintenance Branch Supply Chief.

In April 2004, Sgt Cuthbertson reported to Drill Instructor's School Parris Island South Carolina where he was subsequently assigned as a Drill Instructor with Company C, First Recruit Training Battalion upon graduation.

As a Drill Instructor, Sgt Cuthbertson would serve as a Drill Instructor and Senior Drill Instructor. Upon being promoted to Staff Sergeant, he would serve the billet as Company Gunnery Sergeant for Charlie Company. In June 2007, Staff Sergeant Cuthbertson would receive orders to report to Okinawa Japan were he would be assigned to Headquarters Battery, 12th Marine Regiment where he served as Supply Chief and Platoon Sergeant.

In 2008, Staff Sergeant Cuthbertson would deploy and serve a combat tour as an Embedded Training Team (ETT) Advisor during OEF in Afghanistan.

While forward deployed Staff Sergeant Cuthbertson would then be selected to Gunnery Sergeant in 2008 and hand selected to fill the billet of Headquarters Battery First Sergeant upon redeployment to 12th Marines.

In July of 2010 Gunnery Sergeant Cuthbertson would receive orders to Marine Forces Europe and Africa where he served in multiple key billets of two Marine forces joint commands. He would serve as the MARFOREUR/MARFORAF Supply Chief during his tour and was also hand selected to serve as the Headquarters and Service Company First Sergeant.

In December of 2012 Gunnery Sergeant would be selected as a First Sergeant and in March of 2013 report to the First Sergeant Course in Quantico Virginia. Following successful completion he would receive orders to 1stBN 11th Marines, Camp Pendleton California, to serve as Charlie Battery 1stSgt. During his tour he would also serve as Headquarters Battery 1stSgt. In June 2014, First Sergeant Cuthbertson was attached to Battalion Landing Team 2/1, 11TH MEU and served as the principal enlisted advisor for the BLT detachment aboard the U.S.S. Makin Island in support of Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).

In January 2016, First Sergeant Cuthbertson reported to 1st Supply Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, Camp Pendleton, CA, where he served as the Headquarters & Service Company and Supply Company First Sergeant.

After 14 months serving in 1st Supply Battalion, he would be selected to the rank of Sergeant Major and assumed his current post and assignment at 1st Law Enforcement Battalion.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 3 gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal with 1 Silver Star.
